Beginners Choice: Wharfdale 950s or Pioneer DV525?
I`m sorry if this has been discussed to death but they were no replies to the similar thread below and there is no search function for the archive.
So what do you fair people recommend?
The new Wharfdale 750S model for £180 or a multiregion DV525 for £200?
Or maybe the Aiwa 370?
All the different models and types confuse the hell out of me.
Thanks very much,
Dave

Okay, I was recently looking for a beginner entry dvd player, and was lucky enough to work in a shop were we are allowed to take hardware home, and as we sold the dv525 that`s what i first had a look at and it looked great.
Convinced that dvd was worth getting into we then did alot of research and kept coming across as I`m sure you have, excellent Reviews for the Wharfdale, In fact so convinced were we that we went and brought one from tescos the next day.
Contrary to all the ott reviews we found the picture to be only equal to that of a good VHS player, without that DVD zing, of colour and sharpness that you`d expect.
we decided to change it for the superiour Dv525, brought that home and did a head to head test with our Blade runner DVD and found a staggering difference in picture quaility, the colours were very dull on the Wharfdale.
So basically I would say DV525 is the way to go especially if you can get it multi-region and for £200, We paid £220, with 3 free dvds of our choice.

I got my Pioneer DV530 from Techtronics too. Great little machine. I;ve yet to find fault with it and it`s a good price at £198.
Beats the arse of some other players I`ve seen (Phillips 7** series and the Wharfedales)
One of the main points for me was that it plays CD-R`s, as the Sony and Panasonic models didn`t support this feature.
