Page 1 of Newbie with Sony S435, need region hack

I have recently bought a Sony s435, but balk at paying sixty quid to the Tottenham Court Road salsesman who assures me it is a software hack rather than a physical mod. Any clues?

All Sony`s in my experience are hardware mods.
Advice?
Punt it and get yerself an Aiwa 370!

hi- I`m based in moscow and my LG DS563X player can`t read normal UK dvds... can read local pirate ones fine... have tried some websites but can`t find the unblock codes- there is an unlock ssection in the dvd settings options, with a region two letter code and then a fourn letter code... any ideas?

Try This

Turn Player on with No disk In it
Using Remote Control Press Pause
Using Remote Control Press 3 1 4 1 5 9

Region Code Menu should appear

Select 0 (Zero) For Region Free
Using Remote Control Press Pause

hi sorry, tried to post a new thread and somehow got put into the sony one.... how can I move it? Re your instructions: When I try and press pause, the dvd player only shows an "error" messgae (on the player itself) and nothing happens, so can`t enter a code. However, on the dvd display option, there is a "lock" option where you can enter a two letter region code and then a 4 digit numeric code.... thanks!.

Turn On Unit
Using Remote Control Press SetUp
Using Remote Control Scroll Down To Lock ( Just Highlight it do NOT Select it)
Using Remote Control Press 0 (Zero) Seven Times

An On Screen Message will Confirm Region Free
