squilly (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Monday, 22nd April 2002, 18:51

Hi

I have just bought a Pioneer dvd rom drive model no. DVD-106S. I need a hack that works with Windows XP Home Edition.

Just wondering if i can make it multi region without using the region setting as I have only got 2 times left until is it locked.

HELP, I have loads of region1 dvds that i can`t watch.

Thanks

Lee

Pop over to
http://kickme.to/dvd105s

Where you will find the firmware to make the drive RPC-1 (or region free if you prefer)

The region code is in the drive itself (as well as the software you use to view the DVD). You MUST flash the firmware of the DVD drive to be RPC-1 compliant as well as use software to fix the DVD player software.

If you follow the link given above, flash your drive with the correct firmware and follow the link to, think its called, the firmware page. You`ll find the companion software to free the software side too. (DVDGenie?)
