Page 1 of help please philips 612s

i purchased a 612s with an impression that it would play all cdrs,
but that is false ,or the dvd player is faulty or something as i have been getting films on cdrs for over a year,from the same lads with no problems,
but if i play them on the philips the majority of them wont play correctly,
the first disc will play badly causing sound and picture break up and freezing,yet the second disc of the same film will play perfectly, i have 2 other dvd players a wharfdale m5,and a dansai 852 yet they play all the films perfectly,i am confused is it the machine that is faulty or does there need to be changes, if so i have a one for all digital remote which i got to make it multiregional which worked perfect appreciate any help and advice .thanks.

what you`ll find .. is that the Philips doesn`t cope well with badly encoded vcds... i assume your talking about pirate films? well a lot of them don`t play too well on a philips... the freezing on the first disc.. i know that if you skip past the terrible intros the main feature will play ok...

but as this is a topic that is not appropriate to this forum... i`ll leave it at that
