Tis true, as Sony are key members of the DVD Forum and can`t have their players being all multi-regional...

Hardware mod only, I`m afraid :-(

that is interesting. i am thinking of acquiring a Sony DAVS800 and have been offered the opportunity to upgrade to multi-region from Region 2 for £50. i am being told that this is a software upgrade and will still be in manufacturers warrenty. as a "virgin" DVD person this all seems fine although in contradiction to the "hardware" only route.

clayts is wrong ..... it`s a software upgrade that can only be done by chippers .... the mod requires no soldering and in many cases the "chipper" does not have to remove the cover ( ALL current region 2 sony players can be done this way)

One chipper (maybe more ?) rents out upgrade kits to do a no soldering upgrade on the sony players yourself at home

try these

I`ve been told this may work for a Sony DVP 336...

Put machine on standby then type in 1,2,3, menu, title and enter.

Any chance it might work??
