Repost - Hack for Samsung DVD M105
Haven`t seen anyone mention another version of the hack for the latest firmware of the 105...I work for a electrical retail outlet & got wind of the "5,7,5,3,8" version not long after we realised they had changed the firmware. We got 2 hacks sent to us...The batches of DVD Players came into our shops in different consignments...some with red batterys, some with green. To us it seemed the "Repeat followed by 5,7,5,3,8" worked for ones with green batterys but for the red battery ones the code that worked was:-
1. Power on (no disc), wait till No Disc shows
2. Press SUBTITLE, then the REPEAT A-B on your remote control
3. Using your remote control enter the code 57538
4. 02 should now be on screen
5. Press the 9 button on your remote control for Region free
6. Press the Open button on your player
7. Press the Standby button on your remote control.
This HAS worked for us..for anyone with problems this might work
Cheers..GR

Interesting... I`ve never heard of this hack variant. (Having said that, I`ve never seen a Samsung player come with red batteries before - all of the ones I`ve seen, including my 3 year old 709, have come with the green ones.) It sounds like the hack people have mentioned as working with the SV-DVD1E (i.e. using the Subtitle button and/or Repeat A-B).
Can you find out which firmware version these "red batteried" players have? The "standard" hack works with the 5.02Ee firmware version, so I`d be interested in finding out if the players which use this slightly different hack have newer or older firmware. The 5.02E firmware version doesn`t work with either of these hacks. (As you`ll see from my site, I`ve been trying to match the hacks that work with the firmware versions they work on.)
Finally, I was wondering, where did this hack come from? You mentioned "we got 2 hacks sent to us"... who actually sent them to you? Samsung themselves? (Or the hack fairy? ;-) ) I`ve often wondered how these region hacks get into the public domain!

Mike
I`ll try to find out the firmware OK....the hacks were discovered by our service department...I think a friend of mine bought a "red battery" one...as I am new to this forum thingy is there a way I can find out firmware without opening the unfortunate chaps player??
Appreciate your reply
Gman

Cheers Gman, I wonder where the service department got the info from! ;-)
Unfortunately it`s not possible to find out the firmware version without opening up the player, but there are no warranty seals on it (just 3 screws at the back holding the lid in place) so it should be OK to open it.
Anyway, thanks, I appreciate any info you can give!
Best wishes,
Mike

You lucky "B******S", red batteries, green batteries, I had 10 machines the other day, and they had invisible BLEEDIN!! batteries, and 2 machines had no instruction manuals, but all`s well that ends well, a few batteries, a photo copier, and a reprogrammed chip, and I was back to the land of the living.
