Samsung SV-DVD1E DVD-VHS combo player

Drew Ford (Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 30th December 2001, 16:50

Hi,

I can`t get the remote control hack for the above player to work. I have tried the hack that is in the Info section of this site and the variation that is posted in the forum but I can`t get the 02 to appear on the screen after I have entered the required code.

I`d be very grateful if someone could advise me exactly how to convert the player to multi-region or where I might be going wrong following the instructions already posted.

Many Thanks, Andrew.

Samsung SV-DVD1E

Always perform a Cold Start before applying the hack below:
Power on your player whilst pressing hold both the Play and Stop buttons on the front player
After a short while you should be presented with a set of language options. Release the Play and Stop buttons on the player
You will now need to select a language option between 1 and 6
To convert this player to Multi-Region playback:
Press the Repeat button on the Remote Control
Using the Remote enter the code below, note that you must know what Region your player is currently set to in order to know which code is appropriate
for Region 1 use 2, 9, 3, 3 and 4
for Region 2 use 3, 8, 7, 6 and 7
for Region 3 use 5, 6, 7, 3 and 2
for Region 4 use 7, 6, 8, 8 and 4
for Region 5 use 5, 3, 8, 1 and 4
for Region 6 use 2, 4, 4, 6 and 2
A code should be displayed on the screen indicating the current Region setting of your unit
Press the 9 button on the Remote Control for Region free, or 1 for Region 1, 2 for Region 2 and so on
Press the Open button on your player
Press the Standby button on the Remote Control
If the player sticks on FBI Warning screens:
Press Forward Search x2 or faster, the disc should skip straight to the main feature
Problems:
None known at time of publishing

I have tried all of these suggested here and this one really works! This is a repost but perhaps you have not found it elsewhere so here it is...

turn off the dvd player then turn back on.no need for a disc.

select dvd mode then press set up once if language does not appear press set up again.
then press repeat a/b once then press in the numbers 38767 in the top left hand corner you should see 02 press 9 for region free.

then press open button then press standyby that should do it.

when you press in the first number after pressing the repeat a/b the curser should not move to that language if it does start over good luck

I`ve tried this hack. I managed to select the language, but that`s all, it doesn`t work. When I press the repeat button and start to press numbers, the number I press is displayed on the top left corner, but after i`ve pressed the last number nothing happens. No region code is displayed :(

Hello

I live in Portugal and I have a brand NEW DVD-VHS - Samsung SV-DVD1E Combo player.

I tried all the hacks available on this site and several others recommendations with no result at all.

Then I take my DVD Player to a friend, that have the same model (hacked), and I found something terrible “MY NEW DVD HAVE A DIFERENT SOFTWARE” ( the Samsung DVD logo is different, like a 3D blue image), and on the back the Model Name is :

SV-DVD1EA (I think the last “A” makes all the difference)

So Please!! Can someone help me, I´ m sure this new(?)model needs a different hack, because when I press "repeat" nothing appends and when I start introducing the code, he starts jumping to the options with the same numbers.

Best Regards
JC

A question:
While i press 38767, it goes down the setup menu-tree. Is it normal?

Hello

This is how i hacked my samsung sv-dvd1e

Make sure there is no dvd or video in the unit. It does not matter what connections are connected at the back of the unit.

Step 1: Perform cold start as posted on this web site. I`ve found that this is not essential to do this.

Step 2: Press the TV VIEW button on your remote untill dvd screen is displayed.

Step 3: Press the SETUP button on your remote
Result: The setup menu will appear with options 1 -7.

Step 4: Press the REPEAT/A-B button once. NOTE you don`t have to hold it down just press it.
Result: it will appear as if nothing has happened

Step 5: Type the relavant code(on this web site it should be five digits not four as i tried from a print out which had the last one missing)
NOTE: as you type this nothing should happen it should not start accessing the options on screen, when you press the last digit the screen will keep the same background but the menu will disappear and the current regeion will be displayed in the top left hand corner for a few seconds and then disappear.

Step 6: Type the region number your want or 9 for multi region.
Result: 09 or the number you typed will be displayed in the top left hand corner and then disappear.

Step 7: You must open the disc tray and then turn the unit off with the tray open and no disc in it.

Now turn it back on and put a disc in and try it or go through above steps and after typing the code in it should display new code.

I confirm this hack is OK!.
He works just fine in a "regular" SV-DVD1E. I saw it working in a DVD of a friend, but with my New SV-DVD1EA, he don´t work.

Please if you know something about this SV-DVD1EA (on the back) let me know.

Hi Joao !

I had the same problem as you, but further reading of this forum gave me some hints. This is my solution to the problem; it worked on my SV-DVD 1EA.

Before starting: the reader must be on, tray closed without any disc inside, the logo "DVD Video Samsung" visible on screen, and the message "NO DISC" must have already appeared. Then:

- press the key <SUBTITLE> on the remote; nothing appears
- type the code for the original region of your reader (38767 for region number 2); nothing appears until the last digit is typed
- a number is displayed; it`s the number of the last region you programmed, or 9 if it was multi-region
- type in a single digit for the new region (1 through 6, or 9); its number is displayed
- open the tray (don`t forget this step)

It`s done. You may insert your region 1 (or other) disc without even switching off.

Hope it helps. Let me know...

Best regards.
Laurent Bonaventure.

Hello Laurent Bonaventure,

That hack works "EXACTLY" like you said on the New SV-DVD 1EA.

(...I was anxious to see a Collection of “Space 1999”)

Thank you very much.
