oritron dvd 1030 multi region hack needed for the above any help is appreciated (xmas prezzie form the kids)

I just got one of these machines for my daughter, they should play vcd`s as well but I am still searching for the code.

What you have to do is turn the machine on, press eject so no cd in.
To convert this player to Multi-Region

1. Press the Menu button on your remote control
2. Using your remote control, press the buttons 1, 6 and 7, in order and one at a time
3. A box will appear requestion a new region
4. Enter the code 1 for region 1, or 2 for region 2, and so on, or press the Mute button for multi-region playback.

To enable vcd play back,

Insert a music cd and press stop,
Press menu,
Press 1, index menu, eject,

A secret menu will now come on screen, select 1 to enable vcd playback.

P.S. So far I have found 5 hidden menu`s but no luck with macrovision, has anyone solved it yet.

I have an Oritron 600 which has the same Multi-Region hack as the 1030, so I would guess that the VCD hack is also the same. Try the following :-


turn Player Off, then On
Insert Music CD and wait until it reads CD
Press STOP
Press MENU
Press 1
Press the 1-ALL key (or Index, or right of PAUSE)
Press OPEN
The menu should appear and press 1 or 2 to enable/disable VCD.

However, the 600 models only read VCD`s which are copied onto CD-RW disks. I don`t know whether the 1030 can read CD-R`s or not.

What is VCD play back?Does that mean i can play VCD`s? what other menus have u found

when i put in a cd-r it doesnt work it says no valid disc but when i put in a cd-rw i goes black then says wrong or bad disc
any suggestions

you can play vcd`s on the oritron but only from cdrws, as the machine cannot read cdr`s. You need to activate the machine to play vcds, the instructions are as above.
