With No Disc in the machine

Press "play" on the main unit
On the Remote, press "1", "4", "0", "0"
A service menu will appear. If it does not, try again while entering the remote code quickly.

From the service menu, with the remote, press the "right" arrow to select the "region" tab

Press "Down" to select the region field

Now press "left" or "right" to change the region number to "0".

Press "OK" on the remote.
Press "Setup" on the remote.

Player should be region free.

I can`t get this to work, if i press play it just says indert disc and won`t let me input a code. Any help appreciated?

Must work. It worked for me.

When there is no disc in the machine and i press play a cross just appears in the left hand top corner and it doesn`t seem to accept the numbers from the remote.
When you did this did each digit appear on the screen, or an asterix for each character?

I specifically bought this model for multi region and am frustrating myself now with my own incompetence!
