Page 1 of Phillips DVDR3480 HACK URGENTLY NEEDED!

I`m hoping one of you guys can help me, I`ve googled it but can`t find a hack for the Phillips DVD Recorder DVDR3480.

I`m a film student and was horrified to find out today that 2 of my fave films are now only available on Region 1 and my recorder is R2.

Please help, there`ll be a Christmas card in it for ya lol!

post back with how you got on, i bought one of the puppies today but don`t have any NTSC dvds to test it on... YET that is, god bless the the € with $1.41 per € I shall soon have many come my NYC shopping splurge.

I had the Region-code problem with my Region2-locked PHILLIPS DVDR3480-Player that i purchase here in Sweden. I couldnt play Region1 discs from USA etc. But i found this Region-hack/code in some forum and it worked perfect! now i can play discs from all Countries and all RegionCodes. But there can be another problem, The television has to be NTSC compatible (Since Region1-discs are in NTSC format) But practically every "NEW" Television are NTSC compatible, but you should check that up if you have an older TV.

The only thing you do to unlock DVDR3480 is this:

With NO disc in your DVDR3480-player you press SETUP on the remote and then press this code: 5 0 1 8 ,now you can pick Region-code with the remote from 0-6
( 0=Regionfree)

Hi all

I am not able to play .avi files on my dvdr3480...I get a message saying file type not supported?

Is this correct? Are there updates available - I thought DivX players can play anything and everything which I why I brought it!
