Looking for a region hack for a PHILIPS PET704 portable player.

looking around all other PET hack direct you to the `preferences` option.

menu on PET704 does not have this.

I have a PET704/75 and was looking everywhere to play multiregion DVD.
Yes there is no preferences, use SELECT STATE instead then it works. Well it worked for me so,

Switch on player with no disc inside
Open Tray
Press SETUO, SELECT STATE
Press 2,5,2,3,1,5
Then LEFT, DOWN
Press 0 for mulitregion,
Press SETUP

turn off turn on, the player is good to go.

Let me know if that works for you.

Can you be a bit more specific with SELECT STATE as I tried this and nothing happened. Did you use the remote or the player itself for the left and down etc?

Let me know as I would love for this to become a multi-region player.

i have a PET704, but i dont see this SELECT STATE, he have :

General
Video
Audio.

if i select General, appear SETTING STATE, but i put 252315 and nothing...

You can return for help me to unlock ? thanks

TRY THIS! IT WORKS PROPERLY...It is just the same for PET705 and it goes for 704 also..
Switch player on and open the tray cover
Press Setup on the remote control
Press the down arrow on the player twice to
move menu selector down to the Preferences menu
Press the right arrow on the player
Press 2, 1, 2, 2, 2 and 5 on the remote
Press Left Arrow on the player
Press Down Arrow on the player
You should now see the REGION CODE screen
Press 0 on the remote
Press Setup on the remote to lock in the zone change
and to exit the process.

Hello Alevc,

I have a PET704 and looking for a region hack. Following your instructions I did not get the code 0. In PET 704 there is only GENERAL / VIDEO / AUDIO. There is no Preferences Menu and according to your description after code, left arrow and down arrow, it goes to GENERAL again without any code 0.

Have you tried unlock PET704 model ? Do you have these 3 options in the main menu ?

Likewise no Preferences option on my PET704. Purchased October 2007 in the UK. I assume it must have a different firmware version to the one the does show Preferences. So I guess a different Region Hack applies or it`s not possible on this model now. So if anyone finds it please post.

The hack for the PET704/05 is really simple. I just uncovered it by trial and error:

1) Open the tray and make sure there is no disc in the player
2) Whilst the tray is still open, hold down the `Menu` key on the player
3) Press the `Power` button and continue to hold down the `Menu` key
4) The Region Code menu will appear and you can set anything from 0-6 using the remote
5) Once the region is showing what you want it to, power off and it`s done!
