Page 1 of I Finally made my Wharfdale 750s Region FREE!

After many attempts at the old 750 handset combination and also the step, prev, next. I have finally achieved success.

Turned on machine and inserted a disc. Close tray. Open tray press Step, then Prev, then Next.

Region Free flashed up on the set. The only thing I did different this time was have a disc in the tray

What about when RCE kicks in in this country, though?

You can switch back to R2 manually with :

Open drawer
Then press SLOW, PREV, NEXT

It flashes a message to say its reverted back briefly and now its only R2.

So this should cope with RCE on R2 if we`re unlucky enough to get it too.

However I have not been able to find a manual R1 RCE hack for this rev of the firmware despite several sessions of mad remote button pressing to find the correct sequence.

I`m now beginning to worry that this firmware rev won`t physically allow a hack to R1 only :-(

I have just(28 Oct 2000) bought my First DVD the Wharfdale 750s from Tesco I have tried all the methods to obtain region free use,including yours but nothing seems to work.The Tesco at Grimsby had 750 machines on the shelf,would I be better off swopping my 750s for 750?

Sorry about the latter letter of despair.
I have tried your method
TURN ON INSERT DISC,CLOSE,OPEN TRAY,
PRESS;STEPPREV then NEXT and REGION FREE popped up on screen I have 3 region 1 DVDs I have had for a long time so I can say they all work MANY THANKS for your letter I was about to give up

I am experiencing the same problems so I read your message with great anticipation.One question though,does the disc need to be region 1 that you put in the tray???I would be grateful for a reply.thanx.
