a relative gave me this player and its pretty much ok it can play vcd, svcd, and even xvid/avi files. but i would like to know how to make it multi region or is it multi region out of the box already? thanks!

Hi JDG,

The ALBA DVD62XI dvd player is not multiregional out of the box, but there is a simple set of instructions to make it that way.

1. Turn on your TV and DVD player.
2. Press the Open/Close button on the remote control.
3. Using your remote control, key in the following numbers from the keypad: 3, 3, 0, 8, 8 one after the other,
4. Then immediately press the 10/0 button on the remote control to set the region to 0 which is the multiregional setting.
5. Pres the Open/Close button on the remote control.

Your player should now be multiregional... try a few DVDs and you`ll see its all set up!

JUST BOUGHT ALBA DVD 62XI FROM MAKRO UK 14,99 POUNDS MULTI REGION FROM BOX

Have just bought an Alba 62XI and tried this hack but it did not work, is the 0 button the 10/0? , if so it`s just like pressing 3 3 0 8 8 0 ? or have I got this wrong. There was no display come up to say regions or otherwise.

I bought this DVD player from Argos today at a cost of £17.99. Stock no 533/5392. It was Multiregion straight out of the box. It plays anything.
To answer your Question the 10/0 key is tthe one below the 9

What I cannot find is the 3 digit code to use with my Universal remote control.

Is the hack supposed to bring up a number or something on screen? The hack for my previous player brang up a number for the region. I dnt currently have any region 1 or others to test my player with. I got mine from argos too, I`m pretty sure its region 2. Any other hacks incase this one hasn`t worked?
