Page 1 of Looking for region free hack for a Tech Line DVD-621

I bought this player called a Tech Line DVD-621 from a chain store in Switzerland called Migros and the user manual lists Migros as the "supplier" of this unit, which cannot really be-it is a generic Chinese made DVD player, probably made in some factory for Migros and a bunch of other outfits. It looks very similar to a Conwha unit I saw in Australia (another generic weird one). Searches in the internet have proved fruitless, however there is a TechLine company in Shenzhen, China but their website didn`t work. It may just be a coincidence of the name, too.
Anyway, does anyone have any experience with this particular DVD player and how it might be region free hacked? :/

I had the same problem. They advertised it as codefree, but apparently they are supposed to give you the unlocking instructions when you buy it. I went back to ask and they gave me the sheet. Here are the original (German) instructions and my English translation.

Auf Deutsch:

[*] Gerät einschalten (Power On)
[*] Stellen Sie sicher, dass sich keine Disk im Gerät befindet (Anzeige: "NO DISC").
[*] Drücken Sie hintereinander viermal auf die Zifferntaste "9" der Fernbedienung.
[*] Im OSD Menü erscheint die Anzeige des aktuellen Regionalcodes.
[*] Drücken Sie nun eine der Tasten "1" - "6" entsprechend dem Regionalcode, welchen Sie wählen möchten. Um das Gerät codefree zu schalten, drücken Sie die Ziffer "9".
[*] Des Gerät ist nun wieder einsatzbereit.

[*] Ensure that there is not a disc in the device (Front display: "NO DISC").
[*] Press the "9" key on the remote four times in a row.
[*] The current regional code will appear in the OSD menu.
[*] Now press one of the "1" - "6" keys to choose the regional code you would like to select. To set the device to codefree, press the number "9".
[*] Device is now reprogrammed.

NOTE: I don`t remember really seeing the old regional code appear after I hit 9 four times, but I just kept on hitting 9 until it showed up on the TV and it worked fine.
