Can someone please tell me what is written on the new frimware chip in the Samsung M105(the one which can`t be remote hacked). I have spoken to a sales consultant in a shop and he is unsure if the machines that he has are the new or old versions. He said that he will get their repair man to open a machine for me before I buy it to check this chip.

v5.02C is definitely hackable, whereas v5.02E has been confirmed as unhackable using current methods.
If it`s a different version than either of these, please ask him to try the hack for you (and report back here if it works or not).

Hi,
I appear to have bought an M105 with a currently unhackable firmware version. Do I just sit tight and see if a new hack appears on this site? Is there anything else I can do?

Can you open up your player and see which firmware version you have, Stuart? It would be handy to know.

Hi Mike I opened my m205 and on eprom is follow text "DVD-M105S/XEF VER 5.02E COM 5.02E" and my DVD player is unhackable.

Thanks Stuart and Kai. I think this is confirmation enough that v5.02E is unhackable using the conventional method.
I`ve now put version 5.02C online - see my earlier message. This version can be hacked with the standard Samsung remote hack. (Of course, it`s only of use to you if you have access to an EPROM programmer, or know someone who does...)
