Pioneer dvd-rom 105-need urgent help! Please!

I`ve just flashed up my DVD rom (pioneer 105) to 1.22 firmware and works ok. It even says that it is region free. But i can`t seem to play any region 1 discs even though i`ve tried adjusting regions for the software, windows and program through dvd genie. I`m really annoyed, please can someone help me! i`d be soo grateful! Thanks :)

When you use DVD Genie to scan the disk, what region does it say it is?
Do you use DVD Genie to scan & set the region before playing?
What software are you using to play the DVD back with?

I`ve had the best results with WinDVD 3.0 DTS as it seems to be able to switch regions much easier than other players. ATI and/or Cinemaster based players DON`T switch regions correctly any more (earlier versions seemed fine). If you have an ATI graphics card, then you will need to get at least WinDVD 2000 V2.3 or above, as these have full support for the hardware decoding function in your graphics card.

Best of luck!!!

DVD Genie says it`s rce1 and that it`s region free. And yeh I do use it to scan before playing. I got loads of different software like powerdvd, varovision, ati player.

Since yesterday I managed to install a different firmware onnit, 1.33F and it`s still says it`s region free. To my surprise and thanks to you it`s working now! But ONLY with WinDVD! Cheers dude! :) I can`t seem to play region 1 movies (mines a region 2 dvd rom) on any other software though.

Yeh i have a an ATI Rage Fury Pro 32mb.

Cheers for the help! :)
