Here`s a hack I found on another website for the philips DVDR3380 It works coz i have tried it.
1/MAKE SURE NO DISC IS IN MACHINE SWITCH ON AND WAIT UNTIL DISPLAY SHOWS NO DISC ENTER 0009 AND PRESS OK THIS WILL DISPLAY THE REGION CODE THE MACHINE IS SET TO. open /close tray 2/ DISPLAY SHOWS NO DISC; ENTER 0086000 AND PRESS OK . again ....open /close the tray. now region free ...to vary-fy region . use step 1 again ENJOY......

i`m in the usa and yes it works on my dvdr 3390
