Sony DVP S525D and others Clearing the EEPROM in the Service Menu
Just thought I`d write a quick note to anyone who like me ended up resetting the EEPROM in their Sony DVD Players. There are two options you can go for when this happens to get your beloved sony back up and running:
1. Take it to a Sony Service center where they will charge 50 pounds per hour for a job that could be up to 3 hours to fix. i.e 150 pounds at least
OR
2. You may find that the auto calibration of the various disc types ie. DVD-SL , DVD-DL will not work, if this is the case put the last DVD that you watched in the machine and calibrate using that one initally, i.e. if the last one was Hannibal (as in my case) then recalibrate using the DVD-DL (hannibal`s a dual layer disc) first and then put a Single Layer (DVD-SL) disc in afterwards and calibrate using that. I couldn`t get any other discs to calibrate until I used the last one that I watched first.
This worked for me but I can`t guarantee that it`ll work for everyone!
Cheers,
al

Have you managed to multi-region this player then?... Regards Dang
RE: Sony DVP S525D and others Clearing the EEPROM in the Service Menu
You cannot make any Sony players multiregion from the supplied remote

U say from `the supplied remote`..! that sujests that there is another way of hacking it??? or is it a straight chip job?....Regards Dang

It`s a chip job ... the new NS series of Sony players can be made Auto region using a special £300 service remote but basiclly only dealers would use this
