Panasonic Player / Recorders CANNOT be Hacked using The Factory Remote Control.
You basically have 2 options to make this player Region Free ...Firstly you can take it to a Specialised Panasonic Centre ...who will be able to Unlock it for you it just depends if they are able to ..or can be bothered and there will most probably be a charge.
Secondly You can use the services of a "Chipping Company" who will be able to help you, but they most definately will charge you ...a Google search will help you find one of those or you can use the link provided by Jackmal in the previous post.
Also if Your Player is Region 1 ( NTSC) you will need to consider this fact
NOTE. This modification is only for use with dual format PAL / NTSC Models. These are machines with Original Region Code 2 ( European / UK ) or Region code 4 (Australia). If your machine is not one of these, then the Multi Region upgrade may not work. As your Player may not able to read PAL no matter what .
As you did NOT state the Default Region of your Player the above NOTE is important ...If Your Player is Region 2 or Region 4 then then Disregard the above NOTE.
Hope this Helps

YES, it can be unlocked. At least, it worked for me. I had a region 4 player and now I enjoy all regions.
Here`s where you have to go:
http://www.dcevolution.net/panasonic/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=59&Itemid=92
Download the firmware, update your dvd-player and press the code on your remote. Thank god it also worked for the SC-HT 330.
Remember when you press the "unlock code" the "audio" and "subtitle" only work when you press "shift" + the number" together.
Good luck and enjoy.

Yes Dotcom is correct ...there has Very Recently been some progress made in Hacking Panasonic Player / Recorders.
Here is some more Info on the Subject
www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=368649
As you can see by the Date on the First Post on the above link ...the information was only posted on the 12th July ...when my post on here was posted on 6th July and I posted the information that I beleived to be true at the time.I am now happy to correct my "Mis-Information"
As you can see by reading posts on the above link, I was reluctant to post the information on here as there were many arguments as to the reliability of the Hacks and the suggested player problems that were supposed to happen from trying to apply it or from applying it incorrectly .
There are some good links on some of the posts on there ...please read all the Posts for all the relevent info. There appears to be many different opinions on the Subject ....but the info appears to be good as confirmed by Dotcom.
The comments about PAL / NTSC Compatibility in my last post still stands ...if your Player does not have the ability to Read PAL ...and there are some NTSC ( Usually Region 1) Panasonic Models made like this ( i.e. non Dual Laser) Then if the Hack is able to be applied to a player manufactured this way it will still NOT Play PAL Disks.
The Region 4 Player that has been unlocked by Dotcom is a Dual Laser PAL / NTSC Model as Australia is a PAL Zone.

Strange, I also have a cheap-s*** dvd player (magnavox) and a friend of mine has a cyberhome (or whatever it`s called) and after entering the unlock-code it plays PAL and NTSC dvd`s.
Why would our friends at the Panasonic company invent the same technology twice? I always thought that "made in Taiwan" was the cheapest option to manifacture and applying only one laser is more expensive then putting both in there. But obviously I was wrong :D
But to go back to the subject, after hacking the SCHT 330 it is possible to watch all DVD`s. Only problem is, like Hackaroonie mentioned, some DVD`s will play in black and white (not when the original was region 4, but region 1) because of this type of laser. Just try it and let me know if you can play PAL dvd`s (my guess is that it will play PAL in b&w).
:)
Dotcom
I understand your comments fully
You are correct, if a Player is Dual laser and it is Hacked and then a Region 1 Disk is used then YES if it is played on a PAL only Television then it will obviously play in B&W,unless the Player can be changed to PAL output....most Dual Laser Players have this capability.
Some Panasonic Players made for Region 1 (NTSC) are made with only ONE laser (or a Laser ONLY capable of reading NTSC) this is not just a Panasonic thing ...there are many Manufacturers that do this, for Example some Sony`s are the same , this seems to be something that the "top of the range" Manufacturers tend to do , rather than the "Budget" Manufacturers.
The reason for them doing this is simple cost being the first one but also in the Region 1 area there is far less demand for Multi Region Capability than other areas of the World as most Hacks that are applied are so that Region 1 Disks can be played on non Region 1 Players .....As most Releases are made on Region 1 first (most not all) therefore the demand for Multi Region is less in those areas.
I repeat if the Player is NOT dual laser it will NOT play PAL no matter what
If you do not beleive me ...then Check it out for yourself..... but you will find it is true ...there are Players that are not PAL capable and this includes some Panasonics especially the Older Models..... as the Practice of NTSC only players seems to be dwindling, but they are out there.

I would love to try it out, but unfortunately my budget is kind a tight and I can`t buy another one player (region 1) to try it out and f*ck aroud with it.
That`s why I`m curious about the how and why the crack works (or not).
:)
Hi Dotcom... You are the only one reference in the whole internet who has used this method to convert SC-HT 330 into region-free... I´m not sure to use it... ¿Can you tell me you`re not joking?
Thanx a lot...
