Sony Player / Recorders CANNOT be Hacked using The Factory Remote Control.

You basically have 3 options to make this player Region Free ...Firstly you can take it to a Specialised Sony Centre ...who will be able to Unlock it for you it just depends if they are able to ..or can be bothered and there will most probably be a charge.

Secondly You can use the services of a "Chipping Company" who will be able to help you, but they most definately will charge you ...a Google search will help you find one of those or you can use the link provided by Jackmal in the previous post.

Or Thirdly you can look at this link and use a One For All Type Remote Control , Palm Pilot or any similar Programming type device to enter the Sony Service codes to make your Player Region Free

www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=214244

The Codes covered on the Page will work on 99% of Sony Players with Model Numbers starting with DVP-NS

Also if Your Player is Region 1 ( NTSC) you will need to consider this fact

NOTE. This modification is only for use with dual format PAL / NTSC Models. These are machines with Original Region Code 2 ( European / UK ) or Region code 4 (Australia). If your machine is not one of these, then this upgrade will not work. As your Player will be Unable to read PAL no matter what .

As you did NOT state the Default Region of your Player the above NOTE is important ...If Your Player is Region 2 or Region 4 then then Disregard the above NOTE.

Hope this Helps

Decided to try the technical way changing the Hex `0002`s` via a Eeprom programmer to `0000`, didn`t work, strange >:( .

Then tried the OneForAll URC-7541 (one i`ve used in the past - 4 digit code).
Selected VCR, then press & hold Magic button until VCR button flashes twice, then press 0533. :)

Switch on player with no disc and use OneForAll remote.
01. Press Magic button until VCR button flashes twice.
02. Press 994 then press Magic button & enter 1891
03. Press Magic button until VCR button flashes twice.
04. Press 994 then press Magic button & enter 2552
05. Press Magic button until VCR button flashes twice.
06. Press 994 then press Magic button & enter 0953
07. Press Magic button until VCR button flashes twice.
08. Press 994 then press Magic button & enter 2214
09. Press Magic button until VCR button flashes twice.
10. Press 994 then press Magic button & enter 0795
11. Switch to Stby
12. Press 1 2 3 4 5 on OneForAll remote, comes out of Stby
13. Press 1 2 3 4 5 goes to Stby
Now Region Free/Multi-region
Note `Success` is not displayed. ;) 8) :)
