Hack Help Forum
Bought this from Asda for £99.94. The unit is set to Region 2 and can also play Video/CD`s, so you can back up your DVD`s.
It also has a switch at the rear for TV system change i.e. Pal or NSTC.
If somebody could tell me what NSTC stands for as well.
Thanks
P.S. I think the player is American
RE: Hack needed for Rowa DVD-280
the player is a Pioneer clone so has to be chipped like a Pioneer ... it is possible to make the player auto region with macro disabled and a pioneer startup screen using the right chip
NSTC - you are "N"ot "S"pelling it "T"otally "C"orrect
Should be NTSC which is the format used other than PAL .. not sure of the true meaning but is often referred to as
"N"ever "T"wice the "S"ame "C"olour
Player is certainly not made in USA ... it`s from the same area as the rest of them ...

RE: Hack needed for Rowa DVD-280
It is not a pioneer clone as pioneers have never been chipped....they are software flashed......i shall post the hack here shortly once i have checked it......the player should output ntsc to pal also.......
RE: Hack needed for Rowa DVD-280
Yeah that`s right ...... ish ..... the chip is a firmware chip (programmed)
Same chip as Pioneer 535
