Sony RDR-GX300 DVD-R Region Hack PLEEEEEEEEEEEASE!

Just got a sony RDR-GX300 as part of a bundle with a Sony flat screen TV, but need to know if it can be hacked for region 1, as half of of disc`s are region 1?

The only way to make this machine multi region is to use a coded remote control, there are various companies around that will `hire` you one but all seem quite expensive £25+. I do have one, if you need to borrow it please email me.
