2 questions

1) Does anyone know if the Philips hack (RC6) is dependant on firmware version. And if so, what firmware is required.

2) I have downloaded both versions of firmware (9.23 & 7.01). Do I just put these on a cdr and play them in the DVD player or is that a really dumb question

have you read through the forum?....you should always search for posts before posting yourself!.....

anyway.......the RC6 hack is not firmware dependant....it will work on any philips player with any firmware.......

now..as for upgrading your firmware....what version do you have already?........

for a 710 the latest version is 9.25....you can get it here

the other firmware - 7.12 is for other models of Philips...SO DONT USE IT!.......

you have to burn the firmware on a cdr......go here for further instructions
