Page 1 of Hack For Philips DVDR 610 Finally Discovered!

Here it is folks, the one you`ve all been waiting for....

1: Turn on the 610 from the front panel, Do NOT open the disc tray
2: On the 610 Remote, press the blue button, then play then 159, then 121212005255, then play then standby.
3: Enjoy multiregion viewing!

Please note, the buttons must be pressed quickly or the hack will not work.
You should see the numbers 121212005255 on the front panel display briefly if the hack has been input correctly.

Have converted 3 machines successfully playing region 1, 2, 3 Discs.

The procedure I have described, if followed to the letter, managed to make 3 dvr610`s region free, although it did take a couple of attempts.

This hack has worked on 610`s with the old firmware (nicam indicator showing mono)
and the new firmware (no nicam indicator at all),

If at first you don`t succeed....

Hi, managed to hack my DVDR610 successfully after about five attempts. I found that you had to type in your codes as described but mightily quick! Two hands, numbers quick, numbers quick, and don`t spend any time looking at the display. The more times you do it, the quicker you get and eventually you can press them fast enough and if you can quickly look at the display the long line of digits DO display.

My advice is keep going and it will work. My machine was out of Argos (but I had applied the firmware upgrade - from the Philips site) - now plays multi-region & RCE discs too!

well i`ve got this partially working as the unit does not seem to like rce discs any info as 2 why anyone?

also have up graded firmware but makes no difference.

any help appreciated thanx.

The RCE disc its looking for the player to be locked to the region it expects to be in.

So mainly just luck of the draw, minor hardware difference???

not 2 bothered now took the thing back and swopped for a lg unit which runs nice,is quiet has a hard drive and was p*** easy to make multi region no probs with any discs!

Worked a treat after five attempts, you have to be quick tested with regions 1,2 & 3.

Well at last a really usefull hack, like others I did take a few attempts to get it to work but eventually it did, and as others said try and do it as fast as you can.

A pleased hacker

Just got mind dvdr610 yesterday and then I applyed the hack I can now play any dvd but it comes up black and white.

My other dvd was region free is well that that one worked fine. All other dvd I.E region 2 comes up normal. can anyone hep me.

Is this a firmware update that I need or what is wrong.If so dose any one have link?
