Hi all, I have also purchased a DVPF4EUK DVD and VCR Combi, and unnown to me it defaults itself to the Region setting of the first played DVDs, in my case this was Region 1. Now it wont play my Region 2 DVDs (most of my collection).

I spoke with Hitachi Europe and they just did not want to know. I would greatly appeciate any help.

Hi, as you can probably tell, I am new to all of this!!!
I have also bought the same model but so far have only used Region 2 (GB) DVDs. In the instruction booklet it says the model will play Region 2 or ALL discs. Is ALL discs the same as Multi-Region discs? So if I buy a dvd disc which is Region 1 or Multi-Region will my model play it and will it cause me problems like Pen is having (see posting above) ?
Will I need to hack it?

I would be very grateful for any help!!! :)

Elaine

No "All" disks are not the same as multi-region. "All" just means the disk has a region code that will play in any player. "Multi-region" means that the player has been modified (or can be remote-control hacked) to allow it to play disks with any region coding.

Hi! Pen,
This may sound silly, but have you tried turning the power off/on your DVD.
A lot of appliances return to factory settings if power is switched off.
I`m also looking for a hack for the DV-PF4E but no luck so far!
Don`t give up!

:) Hi Rick :)
I have tried your suggestion for powering the DVD on/off and it works. It will now play Region 2 DVD`s.

Note:
To reset all the settings after a power OFF the unit must have power removed for at least a few minutes.

Many thanks for your help.

I was thinking of getting this exact machine but cant find any details on the exact outputs it has including digital audio, scart etc. and also the inputs it has.
Can someone who has the machine let me know?.
Thanks

Hi!
Following details are taken from the user`s manual:
Rear of unit
Digital Audio Out jacks
Audio Out Jacks(Analogue left & right)
S-Video out jack (DVD only)
Euro AV (Decoder) scart
Euro AV1 (TV) scart
Aerial jack
RF out jack
Front of Unit
Video in jack
Audio in jacks :)
NOTE: This is a region 2 DVD and so far nobody has come up with a hack for it!
I hope this helps. By the way the unit performs well and is reasonably priced.
