Page 1 of Samsung 511 RCE

Hi,

Does anyone know if the 511 can play Regional Coding Enhancement DVDs that have just been released by the big studios, i.e. The Patriot, Crouching Tiger, etc?

I have already hacked the 511 using the remote control code and so far it has played every R1, R2, R3 etc without a problem - but does this region hack cover RCE on R1 discs?

Has anyone tried it or know?

No, It wouldnt work, I tried it.

I`ve heard it wont work on the Alba 103 either which is region free from the box. I havent found or heard of a hack for it yet>

If you are having problems with R.C.E. discs the following Hack could help....

Insert Disc,

Press Menu immediately after loading while the player is searching for the start,

Continue pressing Menu until the film plays,

Press Menu again to get to the main menu,

Do "NOT" press Play or Enter at any time, just press Menu.

Dosent it work if you change it to region1 just for the film you are watching then after youvrd watched it you can change it back to region 0 again.

I don`t actually have any RCE discs - yet. I was just wanting to know if anyone actually got it working, but I will try what you said soon.

The standard Sammy 511 remote hack will allow you to play R1 RCE discs without problems.

There`s no need to faff around with the menu buttons or manually hack to R1, either. The 511 is 100% RCE-friendly.
