maghis and anyone else who might be watching! :)

I can confirm that as outlined in other threads on this forum, that the Pacific 1002 hack definitely does work on this new model Pacific DVD900.

I went to to Asda today specifically to buy the 1002 model which my local store had run out of the other day. I found that it had now been replaced by this new DVD900 model at £5 less in price too. Only £29.94 and they had one boxed one left whech I duly snapped up!!

I figured for under £30 even if I couldn`t find a hack that worked, it was a cheap enough player as a second machine.

So I unpacked it, removed my crappy Roadstar model that`s been playing up for weeks and plugged up the Pacific....be aware that this model comes without any connection cables (Scart or otherwise) so you`ll need to buy one if you haven`t a spare cable.

I tried a Region 2 disc - worked fine as would be no surprise!

I then tried a Region 4 (Austrialia) disc (essentially the same as Region 2) which also played fine.

I then tried a Region 1 and Region 3 disc which both refused to play - not surprisingly.

I then performed the 1002 hack as below:

Switch machine on and using the remote control only:

1. Press `open/close` button (the draw should be left open).
2. Press the `clear` button.
3. Press `1`.
4. Press `3`.
5. Press `6`.
6 Press `9`.
7. Press `0` (zero for multi-region).
8. Press `open/close` button.

I then tried both the Region 1 and Region 3 discs and they now played fine.

I then also performed the Macrovision hack below which disables this "feature":

Switch machine on and using the remote control only:

1. Press `open/close` button (the draw should be left open).
2. Press the `clear` button.
3. Press `4`.
4. Press `5`.
5. Press `6`.
6 Press `1`.
7. Press `0`.
8. Press `open/close` button.

I presume this should have worked too, but I have no way of testing this.

Just be aware that when performing any of the above hacks, that you`ll get no confirmations or indications on either the screen or player.

Anyway, I`m well pleased now...got a Multi-Region DVD player for a bargain price!

Best wishes
Jawsfan

No problems with making the player region free, however the Macrovision hack didn`t work for me.

Hey there Jawsfan, you have a Pacific DVD 900 wich I`ve been unable to find a review for. On the box there seems to be little difference between the Pacific 900 and 1002. I am also told (?) the 1002 plays JPEG picture files. Does the 900 do likewise (I know..neither of them say this on the box).

Anychance you could post your findings on the dvd 900 over its predecessor? I think you`d be the first person on the net to do so. Anything would be appreciated. :)

PACIFIC DVD 900 & DVD 1000 (Asda)

Just got the dvd900 for a present. They did have the DVD1000 as well for about another £5 but i thought the 900 was fully hackable.

The Multiregion hack works ok, but the Macro off does not. I need it to be macro off as the tv doesnt have scart so needs to go into a video first.

Does anyone know of a hack for macrovision for the DVD900 or does the latest DVD1000 player allow you to switch off macro and make multiregion and if so what is it.
I have been through all the posts but seems to be a lot of conflicting info that it does and doesnt work and also the sequence.

Help was be gratefull....

Thanks
