Multregion hack required for Grundig GR1000 / Daewoo??

I have tried suggested remote hacks for the GR1000 and equivalent Daewoo VCR/DVD Combi, but cannot get them to work. I can only play region 2 DVD`s and cannot play any region 1 or VCD`s. Any help would be most appreciated. I guess this model is made by Daewoo and badged with Grundig for the Currys/Dixons group.
