Philips MX5800SA hack (very sneaky one!)

jammy (Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 27th December 2003, 22:47

Hi all i`ve just discovered the hack for the MX5800SA system and what a sneaky one it is to!!!
It`s basicaly a modified version of the MX5500 hack.Anyways here it is...

1.Turn on dvd with no disc
2.Press disc/media on remote (display should show "no disc 1").
3.press disc/menu on remote.
4.Enter 1 5 9 Slowly...(this is where it gets sneaky, the display will not show anything except an X for 2 secs when you input each number).
5.Enter 222222005255 on the remote,(the screen will not show ANYTHING but the numbers are registering!!)
6.Press disc/menu
7.Press standby
8.Restart and press disc/menu.
The player is now Region Free it will play any disc!

When entering the 222... number please make sure it is registering on the dvd display because nothing except the normal no disc info appears on the screen when you are doing this!!

Good man! I`ll try that hack when I manage to get the system to actually play discs!!

Don`t suppose you or anyone else out there has come across a problem with this MX5800SA model that means when you insert a disc and it tries to read it the word "Blocked" appears on the tv screen and the machine freezes? I thought i`d see if the system would proceed onto the next disc instead by loading all the five drives with discs. But now the system just loops around each drive continuosly and i can`t open any of the trays to get my discs out!!!!! :(

Somebody please HELP!

M

Hello mate if this system is new and you havn`t done anything to it i`d say it was bust.
Send it back for a replacement cause it sounds like the nvromchip`s gone nuts!.

Hoping someone can help me ...............

I have tried this hack for the MS5800SA and guess I`ve done something wrong. I`ve tried it three times with the same result. When I play a US disk, the screen comes up white with faint vertical lines for 5 seconds, followed by a flashing (bright) purple screen. If I leave it, the same white scren appears followed by a (bright) green screen. The sound seems to be coming through OK. :/

Any bright idea`s would be much appreciated. ;)
