Phillips DVD 711

Mike_B (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 18th January 2001, 13:34

I tried to set this player to region1 using a remote hack I found on the net. The only thing that happened was that the background changed from a blue "Phillips DVD" background to a white "LEOWE" background.

On trying the hack to change it back it simply changed again to a "LEOWE Systems" background but am still unable to reset it to Phillips or to play region 1 disks.

Also tried setting using my All4One remote to carry out the hack listed on this site for phillips players but the machine just doesn`t responf to the remote when set to 0539.

Any suggestions or help on this very much appreciated!

ok..this is an old problem that keeps re-appearing....

first you have to reset your machine to its defaults....

What code did you use to make it region 1?......

also...What model ONEFORALL do you have?.....

let me know so i can post the solution.....

I have the same sort of problems but I haven`t tryed the
Oneforall "6" remote hack.

I have tryed "2,7,4" Any region Hack
or the "2,7,4" Region One Hack

I have tryed to set to factory settings using the phillips
remote "1,5,9" buttons etc. If you e-mail me I will sent
the rest of the numbers.

the only success (only part) is a "rolling" region One
picture (colour)
Currently my player is back to Region Two Playing with
a copy of The Abyss and Teaching Mrs Tingle awaiting
Your help

Thanks for the response.

To get the machine to region 1 I tried [play]2 7 4 then;

005000128156

Instead of making it region 1 the machine rebooted and the background became LOEWE DVD.

To get it back I tried 002000128156

This did nothing apparent other than Changing the background again to one saying DVD LOEWE SYSTEMS. That`s where I`m at.

For the multi-region hack I have discovered that I was using the wrong model All4One remote. I do now have access to an All4One 6 with which I should be able to try the permanent multi-region hack, but I don`t want to do that until I`ve discovered if it is possible to change the machine back to being a Phillips DVD.

Thanks again for your response.

You CAN NOT reset a locked machine using the original handset....if the ability to access the dashes no longer exists.... you have to use the RC6 method...

PLEASE.....dont confuse people with incorrect info

Hi Allan,
I have tried the "remote-control-multi-regional-hack" on my Philips 711. Play, 2, 7, 4.
I noticed when I entered the 12 digit code there was only 11 digits showing on the display??? When I entered the last digit (5) there was a "bullet" to the left of the digits. Nothing hapened after pressing "play button".
Do you know whats wrong? Do I have to get myself a OneforAll remote to get things done?

Please dont hesitate to send me an answer.

Thanks in advance

You can`t enter the multi-region code using the regular philips remote....you can enter specific region codes but not the multi one...

you have to use a ONEFORALL or a PALM PILOT or a PHILIPS PRONTO.......

See YAH!
