Hack Help Forum
I upgraded my JVC HR-XV1 with a DVD disc from JVC so it can play region1 titles (I live in region2). I`m having problems with rce titles though which get stuck at "The player is incompatible with discs of this region". Inserting a non rce region1 disc first does not help, nor pressing stop.
Can anybody help?

Hi Puffin,
Can you tell me where/how you got the Upgrade disc from JVC. When i contact them they tell me there is no such thing!!! Does it just convert to Region 2 of is it a mutli region upgrade?? Just to make sure is your player a DVD/Video comination unit??
Thanks in advance,
Damienl

Hack above works perfectly.
You should use the LG file, I was worried that it could not be right to use LG file for JVC....but it works perfectly.
Thanks Gerard

This is the multiregion Hack for the DVD-5000 Series LG DVD Players.
Follow this instructions exactly:
Step 1
Download the file lg5000.zip by clicking on the link:
http://www.area450.co.uk/images/LG5000.zip
(If you have any problems downloading the file e-mail me and i will send it to you: 08adnarimonun[at]moc.liamtoh)
Step 2
Unzip the file lg5000.zip. It will create a directory folder called RMTM0000.
Step 3
You need a CD Writer to write a new disk with the files you`ve just unziped (RMTM0000 folder).
Step 4
You need a CD burning software (like Easy CD Creator, Nero, CD Clone, HP RecordNow, etc....) to make a Data disc.
Step 5
I`ve read not to use a 700mb capacity CD-R, but mine worked just fine! For information, I used a Memorex CD-R 700MB 24x. This speed (24x) I think is the key to success, not the capacity or size of the CD-R.
Step 6
Using the CD burning software, create a Data disc and add the directory folder RMTM0000. That`s all you need !
*** When burning the disc do not use DirectCD ***
Step 7
Switch "On" your DVD player and TV and insert the newly burned disc. When prompted select "0" for multiregion and then ENTER. Power off and... it`s done!
Good Luck!

Tried the above hack, following the instructions to the letter, but the player just sits there not recognising the CD, just comes up with error, tried different discs.
Any suggestions?
Thanks :)

Blonde in trouble! Dave wotsits instructions have not worked for me. Anyone else know how to resolve my problem?
I have followed Dave`s instructions but still have a green screen. I fear that I have now ruined my DVD player and very worried about it. I am not seeing any letters, merely numbers.
My original PROM OPTION WAS: 55 53 00 DC 12 55 00 00
I am not seeing any letters now, but:
PROM OPTION NOW: 55 53 00 65 12 55 10 00
(I also actioned the instructions to avoild the green screen).
From a very worried and upset blonde, Teri..............
