Does Philips DVD 751 Hack Need All 4 1 remote?

Neil Martin (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Friday, 29th December 2000, 19:57

Does the hack listed elsewhere in this website for the Philips 750 also work for the 751 model?
Also, is the only way to do it to buy or borrow an All For One Remote control?
Is it possible to use, say, a Sky Digital Remote control?

Thanks.

Doh!.....YES the hack works on a 751...This is the model on which i first tested my hack....

This hack will only work using a ONE FOR ALL (not all for one) Universal Remote...and it has to be a model that controls a DVD player i.e. ONE OR ALL 6 or similar.......

and unless a Sky Digital Remote can transmit function codes then i`d say NO..........

It`s not the fact that you have a learnable remote -- the OneForAll 6 already has the RC6 code stored in it permanently. Does the Harman/Kardon remote have presets for different DVD players already, or do you *have* to teach it with your original remote?

I spotted the One for All 6 for £35! (in Currys)
There was also another remote, the Vivanoa, Vivarano, something like this, that contained DVD codes. It was considerably cheaper.

Does anyone know if this would work.

Thanks.

ok....let me explain..

RC6 is just a term for a particular mode of Infra-Red signal......

The ONEFORALL remotes are able to transmit on this frequency, enabling access to the hidden settings on Philips DVD players.....

I believe that Philips engineers have a remote that is already setup to access the hidden settings, and what the ONEFORALL does : is to emulate that remote.....

I discovered, that using a oneforall remote to control a Philips DVD 751, I was able to access the hidden settings by using the MAGIC key and the numerical code 0, 8, 5..........

so....in theory...... if there are any universal remotes out there that can control Philips DVD`s and allow you to map keys......you should be able to cycle through each combination untill you hit the magic number......in the ONEFORALL`s case 085.......

SO.....SOMEONE SPEND SOME CASH (LIKE I HAD TO) AND GIVE IT A GO..........
