Philips 750 region change

Giuliano Zorzi (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 27th December 2000, 18:08

Hi !
i`ve read some message about changing the philips 7XX riegion, but i have three more questions.

a) i don`t have a OneForAll remote, but only the original philips remote. if i press play,1,5,9 i can see the dasher on the LCD monitor, but there are only 11 dashes and the code is 12 numbers ! if i press all the 12 key the player locks and a little point is displaye left to the first dash. how can i change the region using the original remote ?

b) if i set the code to 222 222 005 255 can i see both region 1 & region 2 DVDs without changing anything else or have i to switch between R1 & R2 each time i change region ? what`s the code to set the player to R2 ?

c) i`ve upgraded the firmware to v.7.03. how can i verify this ?

thanks in advance

giuliano

Ok...

a) You can access to "dashes" screen with your original remote, but you can`t use 222 222 005 255 code this way. You have to use the One4All remote to do that.
There are only 11 dashes on the player`s display, but you can inject 12 digits, then press play.
I strongly advice you that RC6 hack (thanks to Haggis) is the BEST hack for Philips players. I`ve tried to unlock my player (750) with other codes and the only thing I could get was strange behaviours and sound malfunction.
Go for a One4All remote.

b)Yes. The code puts the player as region free. You don`t have to enter more codes or a different code everytime you`re changing discs.
There`s no way to set a certain region (you could do that if you buy a mod chip), but RCE discs also work with this hack (you won`t have to select the region manually)

c)Power on your DVD and television. Select the DVD channel (if it`s not already). Press theĀ  menu button. Go to the most left menu-item. Go to "Access Control / status window / low power standby menu". Keep pressing the down button, untill you get your firmware version. (from Jeroen Verhaar site).
If your firmware is not v.7.03, you could use a code without buying the One4All remote. Check http://www.home.zonnet.nl/jeroenverhaar/en/index.htm for more information.

Hope this help
