i have a samsung m105 its multi region but it will not play cd/r cr/rw disks, is there a hack i can use so it will play them or will i have to buy a new dvd player thanks

No, the inability to play CD-R/RW reliably is a hardware limitation. The only solution is to buy a different DVD player, but this time make sure you get one that advertises CD-R/RW compatibility on the box.

The Samsung DVD-S224 and S225 are good buys if you want to stick with the same brand. They play CD-Rs and RWs perfectly, and they`re multi-region hackable just like the older Samsungs. RRP is £130 (!), but they`re available much cheaper if you shop around: I think John Lewis are selling the S224 for about £85.

(The 224 and 225 are functionally identical, by the way - there`s only a cosmetic difference between the two.)

Another good player I`ve had recently is the Alba 114, sold by Argos for just £70. It`s multi-region and plays (just about) everything, and provides pretty good quality too. You need to ask for it by name, though, since Argos have a number of Alba units under the same catalogue number.
