People might want to try the following sequence instead of the usual 38883 when you`ve got the 3.3e firmware.....

This may get you to a more interesting loopholes menu :-)

Well done for cracking this - how the hell did you find this one out ???

Encore have vehemently stated that there is no macrovision hack, and this resulted in the `frozen player` drama that unfolded when people flashed back the 450 to version 2.0A of firmware to disable macrovision the old-fashioned way.

This hack circumvents that, and with version 3.3 firmware being present on all new players, everyone now has the capacity to disable Macrovision (makes no difference if it`s 3.3A, 3.3D or 3.3E as far as I can see - mine is the earliest 3.3 fimware and it still worked fine, altho` I`d already disabled mine the old way anyway - however, I got to that menu !!!).

This is fantastic news and means the 450 has one facility the Aiwa 370 hasn`t got - nernernernernernerJimbob!!!!!!

Wish youd been here 2 weeks ago m8 (b4 I fried my player with 2.0a firmware) !!

Mind you, having said that, I have found Encore Direct to be literally the BEST company I have ever dealt with for after sales service (and I am a Purchasing Manager for a living so I know what CS is all about....!).

All Id like to know now is:

1) How did you discover the hack ?!

and

2) What does the CSS option do ?

Could someone tell me the best way to hook my ENCORE up to my video !

At the moment I connect it to my video thru the scart lead , with macro disabled I don`t get any sound but get good picture but when i play back the tape it`s a b&w picture with no sound !

Ideas ? (vid is usa final destination)

For sound :
Have you got your 450 attached to a DD/DTS amp via digital cable (optical or coaxial ?)

If so, you`ll need to pop into General Set Up and amend the Audio output to Analogue, rather than digital.

Then, my friend, you will have sound on your video.

For picture:

Unfortunately the only tapeworthy picture is the composite one, so you`ll need to alter the signal that your SCART carries - go to General Set Up and change Scart Out to composite.

Then, my friend, you will have glorious colour on your picture.

I trust you`re taping stuff for, ahem, `personal use` then ??!!!

Don`t forget to reset these options when you`re not taping !!!

DOH! this is driving me nuts :)

OK , I have the dvd connected to my video using only a scart lead,
on uk dvd`s i get good pic but no sound and on usa dvd`s get no sound and b&w picture.

macro is off , video output is set to auto but i just can`t seem to suss it !

Any ideas ? TA!
