Page 1 of i`m confused please help

If i use a hack to make my dvd player play region 1 dvds will i have to buy a compatable tv aswell.(I think it has somthing to do with ntsc)

The Answer Is No.

Bit of a sweeping answer there, Dave old bean :-)

Generally, most players are capable of converting an NTSC signal into a PAL one (usually via an on-screen menu, or switch around the back of the deck).

Similarly in the UK, most TVs on sale are capable of handling both NTSC and PAL (with the exception of cheaper TVs from, say, Bush or Goodmans).

However, because we lucky Brits use SCART, as long as the player can output an "RGB" signal, and the receiving TV is capable of handling that signal (virtually all are), the issue of PAL/NTSC is irrelevant, as the RGB signal overrides that distinction - all good.
