I am really desperate to know if anyone knows of a way to hack this player I `ve tried the one4all remote hack that works on other phillips dvd players but it doesn`t work on this one.
Please HELP!!

Can you check and post the player`s firmware? Can you explain what have you done to hack the player step by step?

hello ps117. i also have the philips 701 and was wondering if you got the hack for it. Is it to watch region 1 dvd`s. If you have did you find any problems. hope you can help. kris

I too have just got a Philips 701 DVD player and would like to know how to make it a multi-region player. I have been hunting for solution to this and so far the best one is actually on this site and says that you can use the omniremote software from your palm-pilot but the link to the .pdb file doesn`t work. All the other solutions say that you can switch from region 1 to 2 and back again but it may only work 25 times and then lock the player!!!
Any help on this would be very much appreciated.

The described method using a OmniRemote or OneForAll will not add to the 25 switches counter. You can get the .pdb file from my site. here: http://www.ianc.net/philips/omniphilips.pdb

Hi `Sledge` (??). Err, you said the best hack for the 701 is the one on this site, but being a new DVD owner, it might as well have been written in japanese, it made that much sense!! Could you please send me the hack in laymans terms? Cheers
