Page 1 of How to hack PC DVD players so that you can change region at will?

Anyone shed any light on whether it is possible to change the region on DVD drives in PCs?

I have an LG CD-RW/DVD internal drive which warns me that I can only change regions 6 times before it locks on to the last region it was set to.

Surely there must be a way to override or reset this?

It`s generally possible to flash the drive firmware with "region free" versions, or in some cases use a region reset utility - see http://www.firmware.fr.st for details, and look under "Combos".

You`ll also need a region crack or patch for whatever DVD playback software you use. DVD Genie (http://www.inmatrix.com/genie/) covers most of the bases.
