have tryed the hack from the philips 750 as instructed but when it asked for the 12 digit code there was only room for an eight digit code on my player can anybody HELP PLEASE!

This is similar with a lot of Philips players, if you just keep typing the remaining digits (you won`t see them appear, but you will hear the player beeping) then press O.K. Now try the player, it should work
