Does anyone know any current hacks for this model but the NTSC region 1 version?
There is a sony data service cable hack but i cant find the full details anywhere.

there is a remote hack for this player as well as lots of other sony players. You will need a Palm pilot inorder to hack this player, plus you will also need to down load a specific zip file in order to place a remite control file on palm pilots configeration drive.

Once you have downloaded the zip file and installed it on the palm pilot, please do the following

2. Create a new section for the DVD player and create 5 buttons. Train the PALM to recognise the buttons to be numbers 1 -> 5.
3. Use the advanced->databases [export category] to export the data to memopad. Sync you palm and paste the data into memo pad form.

4. Resync your palm and then start omniremote. Use advanced->databases [import category] and import the updated config.

5. Place the DVD player on standby.
6. Press each button twice ie: 1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5.

If it has worked the DVD player will switch on and WILL "POWER ON" on the display. It will just power on normally. ** NOTE **: This is different to the power-on sequence for the DVP-NS 405.

7. Repeat this again and the DVD player will revert to standby.

Alternate Method for converting to Multi-Region:

This works with a Pronto remote, use ProntoEdit for the codes.

1. Program the Hex code (below) into 5 buttons of your choice.
2. Put your DVD-player to standby mode (main power on and red light above it).
3. Press your newly programmed buttons sequentially from 1 to 5. (Your DVD player should start up).
4. Repeat step 3. (Your DVD player should go into Standby mode again).
