Hack Help Forum
Does anyone know if the standard Philips remote hack will work on the new Philips DVDR880 machine, sure it will do, but just wanted to check before I try it!
Thanks
Paul.
Paul, from what I can understand, according to this site it`s the same code as that for the Philips 980.http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/info/multiregion/full/philips750.asp
Pele, thanks for the reply! Been out and purchased a One For All 4 Digital Remote and gone through the basic part to set the remote for a Philips DVD player using the 0539 code and it doesn`t operate the machine, it won`t switch on or off, or anything! Do you think it could be different for this new 880?
Any help would be very much appreciated :o)

Region hack for Philips 880-it works but no RCE
Paul
I`ve just tried it with a Oneforall 6 URC-7560 and it worked.
You need to set the recorder to be able to setup menu under remote control used to DVD player so that it will accept signals from another unit other than the original supplied remote control.
Follow the instructions for the 750 hack and use the 12 digit code for the 980 recorders.
Only slight disappointment is that it doesnt make it RCE free, anyone know of a hack for the Philips??
Hi there Paul - you seem to be very knowledgable about the 880.. have just bought one myself - and I see it is being commonly referred to as the `multi-region 880 ` - My machine is set solely for Region 2 - Just wanted to check that the remote hack should still work on it ?? - whilst i still have the option of taking it back ! -
Many thanks

My 880 is a Region 2 machine. The remote hack does indeed work as I`ve performed the same thing on a friends machine too.
Thanks micki ...

Thanks Micki, finally got around to trying the hack again after changing the settings of the player for the remote setting and everything worked fine this time, will teach me to read the manual first next time!
Claire, can say this hack works fine, just have to make that change in the 880 menu first :o)
Cheers
Paul.
Hi guys,
I follow the news in the dvd reviewer, and I see that you are one of the experts on philips DVDs.
I just got a DVDR 980 from Comet and a OneForAll 4 streamline remote. I had the same ploblem, that my DVDR can not accept any other remote except the original philips DVDR remote. I don`t think that the DVDR 980 can change which remote you are using. Will try to find out tomorrow.
Meanwhile can anyone has any feedback on the DVDR980.
Thanks
Regards
john
I got a DVDR-980 and tried the
play 159 121 212 005 255 play
code with the standard remote. play 159 brings up the 12 dashes in the display, when the unit is set to DVD Player mode.
However no success, it doesn`t want to read R1 discs
Do I really need to send the RC6 code from a OneForAll?
I`d think as soon as I get the dashes the box is listening to whatever I send from the remote, or am I wrong here?
