If ever any woman fitted the title Dame it was Angela Lansbury
I'd consider myself content if I ever make 96 but that doesn't mean she won't be mourned by those who never met her but just know her from her screen presence.
Many good roles but I'll mostly remember her for the slightly whimsical Englishness she brought to the screen.
My kids loved Bedknobs and Broomsticks and I never needed any persuading to watch it again.
EDIT A wonderful RIP tweet from Steve Rosenberg 1 min 45 of your time definitely not wasted.

RIP Angela! Most recently I have been enjoying her work through the reviews of Pushing Up Roses, who is a big fan...

I have a weird little memory of seeing Bedknobs and Broomsticks at the flicks as a young kid. There was a scene where Lansbury appears briefly in a circus showgirl leotard. A small group of teenage girls in the seats in front of me let out a collective "Ewww" of disgust that this ancient old woman would appear in something meant to be sexy and alluring. Lansbury must have been in her mid-forties at the time. To these girls she may as well have been 90.
So strange watching a news article on her, couldn't believe how much she appeared in, such a talented actress, and producer, RIP
Lovely tweet here that speaks to her character.

My favorite fact about Angela Lansbury is that during her MURDER SHE WROTE era she made it a practice to hire guest actors of the golden age that had aged out of the game because it allowed them to earn the union points they needed for insurance, pensions, etc
