Explosion at the Women's hospital where my eldest has been doing her placement for her midwifery degree, no she wasn't there at the time.

Yes it was a Taxi, you can see the plate on the picture, apparently one of our fleet.
One dead one with non life threatening injuries. Rumour has it the passenger is the fatality and the driver legged it out of the car after the bang.

Three in custody Two roads closed, one just over a mile away from our house the other about 3 or four miles away.

Home early as nobody seems to be going anywhere tonight.

All the info seems to be coming from cabbies so you probably know more than many snaps.
If this had been in London I imagine we'd have had live feeds for most of the day.
My understanding is the cabby, David, saw his suicide belt and locked him in and he detonated.  Cabby lost his ear and has burns and shrapnel injuries but somehow survived and is a living hero and without doubt has save many, many lives today - most of which would have been women and babies.

You do wonder, as insane as it is to suicide bomb anyway, why the hell a Women's hospital?
Any number of locations where he/they could've killed more people and with a higher profile as well.

Rutland Avenue, closed off earlier on, has seen negotiators (so named on their jackets) go in and now some residents leaving in Taxis with luggage.

I've seen the CCTV footage.
The cab pulls in quickly and slows down but is still just about moving when the bomb goes off.  About 5 secs later the door opens and the driver scrambles out.

I don't think it was targeted because it was a woman's hospital, these f***ers just go for public spaces. I would, however, suggest that the date & time was deliberate.

An explosion outside Liverpool Women's Hospital on Remembrance Sunday has been declared a terror incident by police.

A taxi exploded and was engulfed in flames just before 11:00 GMT at a drop-off zone near the entrance, killing the passenger and injuring the driver.

The cabbie, named locally as David Perry, was declared a hero by Liverpool Mayor Joanne Anderson for locking the suspect inside the vehicle.

Four men have been arrested in the city in connection with Sunday's incident.
