I won an actual court case today...
I wasn't the defendant, but my written evidence definitely swung the case in the defendant's favour in terms of costs being awarded as the duty solictor was pretty useless...

RE: I won an actual court case today...
It was.
The case was a Section 21 Possession Order for a house occupied by someone disabled. I not only wrote the original defence response to the court issued papers but also corresponded with the landlord's solicitor whilst copying in the court.
The Judge today didn't really listen to the on-duty brief and cut her off quite quickly, before actually showing and referring to an email I'd sent on Monday stating that as a house had not only been finally offered but accepted with a move now booked to take place next week that the continuing of the case was a waste of the court's time. I also argued that the only reason to continue the case was to claim for costs.
The Judge agreed wholeheartedly and threw out the claim for costs, agreeing to the claim for a possession order for 30 days ONLY on the grounds that she would be vacating next week.
The look on the face of the claimant's solicitor was priceless, I'm pretty sure she thought costs would be automatically granted...
