As much as I hate to admit it, I frequent 4chan, behind 7 proxies, quite a bit. Once you've got the filters set up correctly on certain boards it's a tolarable place to be, and I've honestly had some of the most in-depth conversations on there.

That said, I have a funny feeling I was in the thread when the first inkings on Qanon started to rear it's damaged head. The thing is, you get a hundred posts like that 8 days a week, so nonsesnical bullcrap like that is immediately either completely dismissed until it drops off page 10, or the OP is trolled until they ragequit and are never heard of again.

However, in certain threads that have a trollable (real word?) hook, you'll get others who will play along as if it's a flat earth or chemtrail thread. This was one such thread, but to all intenmts & purposes it was just LARPing of pretty average quality. Obviously, the OP must have thought they were on to something, so continued on other boards and it snowballed, caught in a lie with no way out but further down.

And it's a real testament to the fragility of the minds of a scarily large number of people that not only actually believed all that pizzagate garbage, but also thought that US marines were on standby to take 50-100 audience members, including Biden and all former presidents into custody, where they would be charged & executed on the steps of the capitol before sundown.

Mental health checks before you're allowed to vote. Couldn't hurt.

Nope.  It's far more prevalent on the side of the political spectrum that considers themselves on the side of angels.

It wasn't always like this, but it has been over at least the last decade.

That, obviously, doesn't deter the fact it happens on the right as well but as I said, far more prevalent on the left.  Have you even been paying attention to some of the rhetoric Democrats and supporters are now coming out with?

That crazy cat lady claims to have filed her articles of impeachment against Biden, even though they're not showing up on Congress.gov.

Just as a character reference, she also believes 9/11 was an inside job, and that every school shooting was staged, including Sandy Hook. And yet her district in Georgia thought she was the best person to represent them.

I'm wondering if we need an impeachment thread.

This article from CNN indicates there's a strong possibility of the impeachment succeeding.
Even if it doesn't it seems possible to me that there's a Trumpist party with one of his family as the titular head whilst he pulls the strings.
If this is the case it could split the republican vote and hand 2024 to the democrats.

Think it's clear that the Democrats really fear Trump beating them in 2024 as this move will in no way unite the country as the new PotUS claimed he wanted to do.
