Well, isn't this a crying shame...

Followers of the baseless QAnon conspiracy theory are divided after Joe Biden's inauguration confounded their predictions that Donald Trump would remain president in order to punish his enemies in the "deep state".

Many reacted with shock and despair as Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th US president.

Others insisted "the plan" had not failed, finding new theories to latch on to.

For weeks, QAnon followers had been promoting 20 January as a day of reckoning, when prominent Democrats and other elite "Satanic paedophiles" would be arrested and executed on the orders of President Trump.

But, as Mr Biden took his oath and no arrests were made, some in the QAnon community had an uncomfortable meeting with reality.

"It's done and we were played"

Social media is just continuing what Fox News started, actually it didn't start it, newspapers have been doing that for as long as I can remember.

The only way you can fix this is proportional representation, but since right now only two parties can win the election, and neither of them are willing to change that, we will always have tribal politics.

I'm not convinced by PR as I believe it leads to endless backroom dealing and compromise.  The Dutch took 255 days to form a government recently and Belgium took 586 days in 2011, and that's just to form the government let alone actually govern.

And I don't believe that coalition politics would work until tribal politics becomes a thing of the past.  It's the charged rhetoric from the left in particular that needs to change.

Labour under Gordon Brown could have formed a coalition with the Lib Dems in 2010, but they felt that working with Clegg and his party was beneath them.  If they had, then the whole political direction of this country could have changed and Brexit probably would not have happened.

Labour were wiped out in Scotland for the sin of 'sharing a platform with evil Tories' and having the temerity in believing in the Union.

So convince me that PR would actually work...
