I don't have a huge problem if he cycled there and back without any human interaction.
You do have to wonder if he and his bike where transported there though, in which case I do.

Did he have some reasonable excuse to travel during lockdown?

Maybe he went via ALDI and got some cheap food outside of his zone, while others are not allowed to travel and have to pay £1 for a tin of fruit. (while its 3 tins for a pound at ALDI)

PS...not promoting ALDi just saying poor pensioners are gubbed under lockdown.

I don't really care about Boris exercising (legally) 7 miles from #10. What I do care about is the private companies with connections to the Tory party making money out of delivering food packages to struggling families by providing them with pathetic amounts of food.

"Boris cycling 7 miles from Downing St!! That is the problem in a nutshell for me, one rule for us and again, another for them, why has he not been visited by the friendly local bobby??  will give the guy at the door something to do at least."

I'm failing to see the issue Boris is exercising, not travelling to exercise, and it is within the spirit of the guidance.

*this based on comments within thread, if it transpires he has/was driven 7 miles from home to undertake exercise then that's a different matter entirely.

The instructions as I read it in the simplest form, is, exercise should start and finish at home?  You should minimise contact with any persons outside of your household/or support bubble.

When I cycle for exercise (or to/from work) its in excess of 10 miles from my front door.  I could cycle around the block 50 times, but I would get dizzy.

When cycling I will always take to the centre of the road when passing pedestrians, or when overtaking other Mamils,  to keep distance at a maximum, and if I cannot do that I wait to pass at a more appropriate location.

"Do you have a cigarette lighter in your car and does it work with the ignition off?"

I don't think any Auxiliary Sockets (Cigarette Lighters) now work with ignition off/key out...

I'm not techie, so are you saying this wont work if you need ignition on? That would seem to totally defeat the object as that in itself would drain battery?

I ordered a thing, I went with a higher wattage one that looked like I could use it for other things in the future when we are back to being normal.

My car is over 15 years old so it may do. I will test it when it comes at the weekend.

Thank you all!

(I don't really see the problem in Boris driving 7 miles somewhere to take exercise, other than perhaps the increase chance of a car accident which potentially fills a hospital bed. It's only driving for 15 minutes maybe? I have to do that to visit a big supermarket!)

Just going by what is on the listing re. connecting via the cigarette lighter...

I have two cigarette lighters, one in the front on the dashboard but also one in the boot which I think might work all the time. The boot faces South and also where the battery is.

I guess either way it's going in the boot!

Personally I'd go with clips direct to the battery.
Though I'm sure your pay grade rates you for installing a direct plug socket of your own.

Note: I absolutely detest lighter sockets and plugs and don't understand why in todays techy world they can't replace them with some more usable connection(s)
