And lo...here comes Andy Burnham with his personal view on Tier 3 restrictions:

And I find it astonishing that no one thought to confirm this news with Burnham or any other stakeholders once this decision was made...

Vaguely amusing, but I guess he's not struggling too badly if he can afford to get that sign done...

There is now talk on the news of a two week full nationwide lockdown ie, a circuit breaker.

I could sell then a 60A breaker for 2 trillion pounds, if they want, I have a box full of them :D

Where do they get these names, why circuit breaker?
why not.... job destroyer weeks, or pi@@ed off again weeks, staring at the walls weeks.

I suspect I need to have gone to Eaton or been a party donor.

Talking of test and trace... this is what we get for our money:

Quote:
The latest data shows just 62.6 per cent of close contacts of people who tested positive for Covid-19 in England were reached - down from 69.5 per cent the previous week.

For cases handled by Public Health England’s local health protection teams, 97.7 per cent of contacts were reached. However, just 57.6 per cent of close contacts handled by call centres or online were reached successfully.

But you know, private enterprise is a lot more efficient than public sector. Or is it just a lot more expensive?

It's Eton, as David Dimbleby knows...

Depends.  Also depends on the numbers behind those percentages as may well be talking about different scales of numbers.

Private sector can be more efficient but can also be appalling in value for money due to a recognised flaw on HMG contract management - I once watched a Parliamentary Select Committee session on this subject when doing some on-line training in trying to gain an appreciation of the subject.
