It's okay, this is just all the tests that the government promised it would achieve and then lied about achieving, actually finally being discovered and processed.

Higher figures of those with Covid are now inevitable, as it is now a case of 'getting the economy going' over keeping us in a major lockdown. More people will mix by going back to work, being on transport to get to work, going to school, and going to pubs and shops and social events.

Total Lockdown was a very expensive situation roughly costing over two Trillion Pounds (likely underestimated), and the Government will not, cannot, go back to supporting the UK economy. So we will now just get mini lockdowns of a town or city for a limited time instead.

On the plus side there is less deaths now, as the NHS is cooping with demand, and there have learned more on how to treat the virus, when to use oxygen, drugs, and last resort ventilators,

EDIT..On last nights news, it said less people in intensive care, due to more of the younger generation catching covid (18-24) due to more socialising, so it is not so severe in most cases, but not all cases. You still can die from covid at a young age. Danger is these younger people can pass this on to older relatives, and the older you are the worse Covid can be.

The lockdown was all about protecting the NHS.

The priority now should be getting the economy back on track and opening wider NHS services.  Early estimates suggest huge potential spikes in mental health issues and potential undiagnosed conditions like cancer.

There shouldn't be another lockdown, in my opinion, unless serious hospital cases rise.  We have a large number of people working from home so no excuses for not opening up the economy so long as we're careful in following the guidelines, with those considered vulnerable ensuring they do what they feel they need to in order to stay safe.

a new 'pop up' test center opened near me the other day, walk-in or by appointment. Apparently both had to join the same queue, one of my neighbours waited in queue 1.5hrs.

He only wanted testing, as he saw it was there when he walked past it!!!!!!

Apparently they're closing a covid test centre at Ebbsfleet (Kent) to make way for a brexit lorry park, lol.

Next week they're bulldozing a hospital so they can use the land for growing potatoes...

Double facepalm

For a triple facepalm, see a PM who announces a moonshot of testing millions a day only for a few days later to admit we aren't even reaching the current lab capacity, whilst also sending out the health secretary to just lie about all the stats and refusing to release any of the figures they are based on.

Also, grouse shooting.

Don't think I'm defending this as it's certainly not my thing, but grouse shooting is one item on a list that the media have picked on.

Not only that but both devolved nations have it on their lists as well...

How dare they pick on something which was clearly there because the posh kids do it whilst excluding equally dangerous/not dangerous things that the not-posh-kids do.

Boris is doing his best! It's just a shame his best is nepotism by default without care for anyone who isn't a rich friend of his or the Tory party.

And my gosh, cretin Toby Young has changed his mind on Boris, now he's realised that Boris isn't a true libertarian and actually isn't anything at all beyond a rich posh kid who just wanted to be PM.
