What about all these massive nightingale hospitals doted around the country that are available for overspill, why not use these if hospitals are full?  and why not enough manpower to put into them? There are plenty unemployed now available due to losing their job due to lockdowns, to do the task. It just seems as usual that the Government did not think it though.

You know training to be a nurse isn't something that can be done in an afternoon at the job centre don't you?

where my dad had his done there was an "army" of volunteers from a local charity with the football club.

The govt. also got rid of bursaries for nurses training, they now have to fund it all themselves.

Also, thanks to brexit telling European nurses to f*** off, a heck of a lot of them duly obliged.

So... 0.15% of the UK population died of Covid last year.

Could be worse, the Black Death took almost half the population in the space of two years in the Middle Ages.

The Department of Health and Social Care is ultimately responsible, also I don't think the NHS was the one that took the decision to delay the second dose.

So, a good speech by a Tory showing empathy for people not like him and not in his position:

Not only is the NHS under staffed the government is even trying to further p*ss off and put at risk the remaining overseas staff we have.

Simple - it was a PR stunt. They didn't and still don't have staff to service these.
Somebody down the line should be held acountable for the waste of money which could have been spent on PPE in the first wave for example.

Accountability and PPE? Haha hahaha....
I think you'll find both things would lead directly lead to hundreds of millions pounds worth of contracts awarded to friends and friends of friends with pretty much zero due diligence.
There was a fortune spent on PPE. Even just re-labelling it probably to bring it back in date. Count those gloves individually, we had millions!!!...
Ain't happening.
